Which locks does this app simulate?

Combo Lock 101 simulates single-dial mechanical combination locks. These are the types usually found on padlocks, school lockers and older safes. Electronic and multiple-dial locks are not covered.

Why does the dialing demonstration show a ×3, ×2, ×1 sequence? This isn't how I open my lock.

It's actually the same dialing technique you use, but demonstrated in a way that covers all lock types in the simulation. When you dial "at least two turns to XX, back past XX to YY, then back to ZZ", you are in fact visiting each number 3, 2, and 1 time, respectively. Yes, it's probably easier to remember your way.
